  1.   For those who are familiar with earlier versions of Qfonedit:
  2.      
  3. Qfonedit 2.2X provides full support for the Qmodem 2.20 (and later)
  4. directory structure, allowing editing of all of the new fields and
  5. sorting on some of them. Qfonedit's use of color has been revised to
  6. more closely emulate Qmodem. Improved use of windows and error
  7. trapping has been implemented. One level of complete un-do capability
  8. has been added.
  9.      
  10.   For those not familiar with Qfonedit:
  11.      
  12. Qfonedit is an all-around utility for maintaining Qmodem phone
  13. directories. It allows full editing of the directory, using a full-
  14. page context-sensitive editor. It enables rapid sorts on up to seven
  15. fields, in any combination of ascending/descending order. Qfonedit
  16. will "print" any portion of the directory to a disk file, permitting
  17. you to further edit and print that file. Using Qfonedit, you may clear
  18. entries from the directory, exchange entries within the directory, and
  19. insert blank entries into the directory. You may also force blank
  20. entries to the bottom of any section of the directory. Qfonedit allows
  21. you to reset the communication parameters of all entries (or only all
  22. blank entries) in the directory.
  23.      
  24. Qfonedit maintains up to two backups of your directory and also lets
  25. you "un-do" its operations if you make mistakes.
  26.      
  27. With Qfonedit, you should need no other Qmodem utilities. Without
  28. Qfonedit, you may not realize you need a Qmodem utility. (That isn't
  29. hype. I wrote this program thinking I didn't need it. I didn't realize
  30. the need until I already had the program well under way.)
  31.      
  32. Qfonedit is a user-supported program. This is not a demo version, nor
  33. is it crippled in any way, or limited in number of runs.
  34.      
  35. release 2.22:
  36.   If 2.20 worked well for you, you don't need 2.22--but please do not
  37. distribute 2.20! Some bugs kept Qfonedit 2.20 from running at all on a
  38. few systems. They have been squashed. Qfonedit 2.20 used and left a
  39. funny cursor on mono display adaptors. That has been fixed. Qfonedit
  40. 2.22 uses current DOS colors for opening status messages and restores
  41. those colors when exiting.
  42.      
  43. release 2.23:
  44.   Again, if things are working well already, you don't need 2.23. But
  45. again, please do not further distribute earler versions! The last (I
  46. swear to goodness!) bugs involving saving and opening files under DOS
  47. 2.X have gone.
  48.   The "other display" information may be Printed (to disk) in place of
  49. the main display information.
  50.   All ASCII characters from the space thru the underscore are
  51. recognized as significant in the Sort on Name. This was in response to
  52. requests from contributors.
  53.   Handling of QMODEM.FON has been modified to preserve unchanged those
  54. portions of the .fon record which are now reserved for future use.
  55. (This may mean that some of QMODEM.FON will look trashy under DEBUG,
  56. but only Tom Neff seems to care about that.)
